Fiji: Good news for garment industry

Published: 03 Apr 2009 13:19:52 PST

AUSTRALIA has reduced the local content requirement for all garments exported to Australia under the SPARTECA-TCF scheme.
This means that from February 23, garments will only require 25 per cent of raw of materials sourced from within Fiji to qualify for duty-free export to Australia under the scheme.

The Minimum Local Area Content requirement stands at 35 per cent.

According to a statement from the Australian High Commission, this reduction does not include wool and wool-blend fabrics.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji James Batley said the reduction was good news for our garment industry.
